FACTS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT WATER

Well, everyone knows that there is no life without water. That's probably one of the main reasons we started our fundraising project for Adele's birthday project. But did you all know just how much water is important?

60% of our total body weight is made of water.

By the time a person feels thirtsty, the body had already lost 1% of the total water amount.

A decrease of only 2% of that total of 60%, can cause short term memory loss, it will be harder to solve math problems or to concentrate in general. A chronic lack of water can cause much greater health problems.

The daily recomended amount of water to drink is between 8-10 cups of water

There are more than 3,000 brands of bottled mineral water worldwide.
Water are odorless, tasteless and colorless. The ocean is blue as a reflection of the sky (well, the atmosphere to be exact).

The total amount of water on earth is about 326 million cubic miles of water.

About 75% of the earth is made of water. But 97% are salted water, not suitable for drinking, which means we are left with only 3% of which we can drink.

884 million people don't have access to clean water. about one of eight people.

3.575 million people die each year from water realted disease.

A five minute shower takes more water that a person in a developing country uses A DAY.

Providing clean water supply for one person, costs only one £ (about 1.5$).

There are millions of people who still don't have access to clean water, and for them each drop is a struggle. Drop4drop is building wells of clean water for those people, to help them live a little bit better.
Just see the difference they are making:

WORLD WATER DAY

Think about the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning: going to the bathroom, brushing your teeth, drinking a nice cup of coffee, or maybe just some tea. And just after? taking a shower and packing some lunch to take to work or school. A yogurt. An apple. Maybe a fresh salad with the vegetables you could find in your fridge.

Washing the vegetables. A glass of water. A quick shower before work. A long bath when you come back. Doing your laundry. Washing the dishes. These may sound like mundane, boring tasks you just have to do. You might not like doing them, but one thing is certain - you take them for granted.

We are used to having water running in our kitchen faucet, in our bathroom and eveywhere we look around. Did you ever try to imagine how your life will look like, if you didn't have unlimited access to clean water?

For some people, living without clean water is the only way they know, struggling for the next drop. There are too many people that are not able to live with all the little things that we are used to, and for those we are trying to help, raising money to build wells that can provide clean water for life. Our little deed in trying to make their lifes a little better. But we can't do it alone: we invite you to visit our fundraising page. With a small effort from each of us, we can make a big change.
