FACTS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT WATER
Well, everyone knows that there is no life without water. That's probably one of the main reasons we started our
fundraising project for Adele's birthday project. But did you all know just how much water is important?
60% of our total body weight is made of water.
By the time a person feels thirtsty, the body had already lost 1% of the total water amount.
A decrease of only 2% of that total of 60%, can cause short term memory loss, it will be harder to solve math problems or to concentrate in general. A chronic lack of water can cause much greater health problems.
The daily recomended amount of water to drink is between 8-10 cups of water
There are more than 3,000 brands of bottled mineral water worldwide.
Water are odorless, tasteless and colorless. The ocean is blue as a reflection of the sky (well, the atmosphere to be exact).
The total amount of water on earth is about 326 million cubic miles of water.
About 75% of the earth is made of water. But 97% are salted water, not suitable for drinking, which means we are left with only 3% of which we can drink.
884 million people don't have access to clean water. about one of eight people.
3.575 million people die each year from water realted disease.
A five minute shower takes more water that a person in a developing country uses A DAY.
Providing clean water supply for one person, costs only one £ (about 1.5$).
There are millions of people who still don't have access to clean water, and for them each drop is a struggle. Drop4drop is building wells of clean water for those people, to help them live a little bit better.
